Description
Fratello Oro is likely to be this company’s most popular cigar. To begin with, after working for 12 years at NASA and managing a 5 billion dollar science budget, cigar lover Omar de Frias walked away from a $200,000 a year job to follow his passion for cigars. From inception, Fratello Cigars has earned 90+ ratings in all major US publications and has been featured in over 30 publications including The Washington Post, Tobacconist Magazine, Cigar Aficionado and CigarSnob.
With attention to detail an Ecuadorian Wrapper combines with a Cameroon binder and a mix of filler tobaccos from Columbia/Dominican Republic/Nicaragua. The result is a super smooth smoking mild to medium bodied, very flavorful smoking experience. It’s safe to say the jury verdict is unanimous. To put it another way: Stogie Press @ 90 and Halfwheel @ 91. Add Cigar Dojo @ 91, Cigar Coop @ 92 and Leaf Enthusiast @95. This is a stone cold winner!
With this in mind, Oro is a great cigar for new comers. Its also a favorite of aficionados seeking a milder smoke with amazing taste and flavor. The interplay of different tobaccos provides great complexity to say the least.
To sum up, Fratello Oro is available in 6 popular sizes of 20 count boxes

I had the chance to try one of these mild to medium bodied Dominican made Fratello Oro’s in the form of their 4×58 SHORTY size. I wasn’t expecting much since I’m a fan of more robust blends. I was pleasantly surprised with how this unique cigar drew, burned and tasted. Rarely do you find Cameroon leaves used for a binder. The results were very enjoyable. Natural tobacco taste combined with gentle notes of citrus, hardwoods and just a bit of peppery spices to keep things interesting. As the overall strength and intensity increased towards the end, it never became overpowering.
