Binding this special tobacco is the same vintage Nicaraguan binder. The big difference here is the dark and oily Grade A Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. As with its Natural counterpart consistency also describes this very special Maduro. The result is craftsmanship delivering rich, smooth flavor and incredible natural tobacco taste. It’s safe to say that this Maduro is still the benchmark for the mark.
In 1993 Cigar Aficionado rated this gem a respectable 90. Their description is short and to the point. “A very dark, oily wrapper. This cigar has a rich, creamy taste that is brimming with sweet, spicy flavors.” In 1996 it scored the same. And pretty much the same year after year after year. It’s very safe to say this Maduro delivers a rich flavor savoring smokers palates for generations remaining a fan favorite to this day.

This iconic vitola consists of a hand selected proprietary blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. Binding this special tobacco is a vintage Nicaraguan binder. Encasing everything is this brand’s signature Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. Among everything else, consistency is the key word to describe this very special cigar.
In a recent tasting of this original natural, Cigar Aficionado sums up their 92 rating with reverence. “Many varieties of La Gloria Cubana now exist, but the original blend, with its Ecuador Sumatra wrapper, still impresses, showing a harmoniously nutty smoke atop an earthy core and fresh tobacco finish.” Oddly enough, in 1993 this classic scored the same. It just goes to show you that greatness stays great even after 30 years .
