This edition’s blend uses a Nicaraguan Jalapa wrapper encasing a Mexican San Andrés binder. The exquisite fillers include Brazilian mata fina, Dominican olor and piloto cubano along with Nicaraguan Jalapa . It’s important to note the Spanish Press method of producing cigars is a very old world pre-embargo technique using boxes instead of molds. The result is a spectacular medium bodied box pressed cigar with a great draw from start to finish.
Noted Reviewer KATMAN quickly rates this unique cigar a score 0f 90 claiming….. “I am truly amazed at how good this cigar is.” Blind Man’s Puff simply says that LGC Spanish press is “ A Magnificent Cigar” They up it to a 92. Cigar Coop agrees with the same 92 and aptly describes this LGC as a flavor bomb. Think Natural Tobacco, Red Licorice, Pepper, Baker’s Spice, Earth for starters.

This blend consists of very select Nicaraguan and Honduran tobacco fillers and binder leaves. Encasing all this is a prime Nicaraguan wrapper from the Jalapa region. The result was an immediate success.
The critics at Halfwheel describe it as a flavor bomb. Think pizza dough, almonds, sweet apple and pita bread fro starters! Leaf Enthusiast rates it at 90. They’re words are perfect. “A very nice medium-bodied flavor profile that has plenty of complexity.” Developing Palates expands with more details. ‘You’re treated to earth, leather, toasted notes, spices, creme brûlée, chocolate and baking spices.” But when Blind Man’s Puff scored it an astounding 93, it really took off. Criollo de Oro uses a very rare sun grown criollo de oro wrapper from Mao, Dominican Republic. The binder is Grade A Connecticut Broadleaf maduro along with select fillers from Honduras and Nicaragua. Combining the versatile Criollo ’98 with the rare Cuban seed Pelo de Oro is an accomplishment to say the least. What’s more important are the results.
Noted reviewer KATMAN rates it a respectable 90. His claim…”The cigar has goes from shy and smooth to big bold flavors accompanying serious complexity.” Leaf Enthusiast giving it the same number by saying it’s a smooth medium-bodied smoke right out of the gate. $147.20 – $230.99Serie R Natural consists of a proprietary blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. Binding this special tobacco is the vintage Nicaraguan binder. The big difference here is the Ecuadorian Habano wrapper.
Stogie Review enjoyed it and describe it well. “A medium to full bodied cigar with flavors of dark, rich coffee, licorice and a nice tobacco taste.” Cigar Aficionado gives it a thumbs up too with a respectable rating of 92. They say it best. “Rich in color with an oily wrapper and superbly crafted cap, this short robusto draws and burns evenly.
