PDR El Criollito

For starters, Criollo tobacco plays a pivotal role in this blend being featured in the wrapper and in the filler. Add this to the dark Mexican binder along with vintage Dominican filler and you know this has to be good. The result is medium body, medium strength, excellent draw and a bevy of flavors. Think Natural Tobacco, Fruit, Earth, Cedar and bits of Pepper for starters.
Cigar smokers are definitely united. In Europe they love this cigar. Here in the States, the sentiment is the same. Stogie Press especially enjoyed the cinnamon notes along with the nuances of dark chocolate and almond. They rate this PDR a respectable 91. Cigar Coop exclaims, “It delivers a very classic flavor profile that can appeal to a wide range of cigar enthusiasts.” Halfwheel thinks this is a very good choice to track down and try.

PDR 1878 Natural
$140.33 – $188.37PDR 1878 Natural is officially known as the PDR 1878 Recordando a Santiago Edición Capa Natural.
This PDR is the culmination of select Viso, Seco and Ligero tobaccos. The result is a mild to medium-body cigar of exceptional quality. The wrapper is a very silky Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade contributing to its mild flavor and slightly sweet character. The result is balance and smoothness from start to finish. Flavor notes? Think herbal, hardwood, cinnamon raisin toast, vanilla, oak and citrus for starters. There’s also a welcome bit of tasty spice that in no way is overcoming to the overall blend.
Without doubt this cigar is another winner for PDR and Abe Flores by becoming an any time of the day smoke.

PDR Gran Reserva Sungrown
$187.64 – $252.00PDR Gran Reserva Sungrown is one of seven within this very popular series.
This version uses a Dominican binder, a bevy of Nicaraguan Habano filler leaves, and is topped in an Ecuador Habano Sungrown wrapper. The result is a smooth mild to medium bodied smoke with rich and creamy flavors. Think natural tobacco, citrus, cafe latte and toffee for starters. The results don’t surprise us.
The Cigar Inspector claims this cigar is great from start to nub. Everyone at Blind Man’s Puff loves this blend. Their rating is a very respectable 93. One of the great characteristic about this vitola is it’s a perfect smoke for anytime of the day. Mornings with coffee. Lunch with wine. Dinner with whiskey. You pick it and this cigar won’t disappoint.

PDR Gran Reserva Corojo

This Gran Reserva uses a very rare Corojo 2006 Dominican wrapper encasing a mix of Dominican Corojo and Nicaraguan Habano tobaccos. The result is a medium to slightly full body smoking experience via a perfect draw. The critics agree!
Cigar Lovers Magazine heartily recommend this cigar with a 90 rating. Cigar Coop scores this Corojo a respectable 91. Their take…..”The flavor notes such as cinnamon and exotic spice were flavors that surprised me coming from a PDR cigar. If you like a cigar that delivers a lot of cedar and a variety of spices, this is going to be the cigar for you. PDR A Flores Privada BP Maduro

The construction on the cigar is superb. The flavor is even better, balanced and very tasty, with pleasant hints of vanilla, coffee bean and cocoa. This medium to full bodied jewel with a sharp box pressing and superb balance is a great any time of day smoke. Hands Down!
Abe Flores’ own tasting notes are perfect: “These Maduro cigars offer notes of coffee, wood, and a slight blackberry note. A smooth experience perfect for an afternoon smoke. ”
Noted reviewer KATMAN agrees by simply saying this is a delicious cigar that is a must try. Cigar Coop agrees. They think the excellent draw yielding an array of flavor is worth a try. PDR A Flores Privada BP Habano

This PDR creation utilizes the same vintage filler/binder as it’s Maduro sister. The big difference here is the wrapper. Encasing the selected inner leaves is an exquisite Ecuadorian grown Habano. The results are better than anyone would expect.
Cigar Aficionado bestows the awesome score of 93 on this PDR creation. Naming it a top 10 of the year makes its greatness official. Blind Man’s Puff scores it an even higher 94. Their words speak volumes. “This cigar has an impeccable draw accompanying wonderful woody, cedary, creamy tasting notes with a med/full body to back it up.”
With that in mind, this jewel is a must try.

PDR 1878 Maduro
$161.62 – $196.54PDR 1878 Maduro is officially known as the PDR 1878 Recordando a Santiago Edición Capa Madura.
This edition utilizes the same internal blend as it’s Natural counterpart, the big difference here is the wrapper. The dark and oily San Andres Grade A Maduro leaf encasing the filler/binder is a joy to behold. The result is another smooth smoking any time of the day cigar with a bit more character. It’s also got some nice flavor notes. Think dark chocolate, spice, earth, leather, and vanilla for starters.
Cigar Aficionado pleasantly claims this cigar is a primarily sweet and woody smoke with a toffee note and toasty finish. The Stick Stickler… “Where cigars are put to the test.” Rates this PDR a very respectable 92. They think this smoke is just delicious with subtle sweetness and traditional flavors. Cigar Advisor feels the construction and draw are ideal, and the profile is steady and entertaining.
The old school Pig Tail Cap is a bonus all cigar smokers will appreciate.

PDR El Trovador A Flores Maduro
$246.20 – $280.90PDR El Trovador A Flores Maduro is one of two excellent cigars in this line.
El Trovador Maduro contains the same complex blend as it’s Rosado counterpart. The big difference here is the wrapper. Adding a grade A dark and oily Mexican Maduro leaf to encase the filler/binder makes for a special smoke. Retaining it’s medium body, the maduro wrapper adds a sweetness to the overall taste. Think notes of chocolate and earth and spice for starters.
Cigar Century gives this dark knight a respectable 90 rating. Cigar Aficionado ups the score to 91 with a perfect description. “This box pressed cigar is cloaked in a dark, oily wrapper. Bold impressions of red pepper, leather and oak are balanced by sweeter notes of cherry and chocolate. The finish smacks of coffee bean. It draws evenly throughout.”
Without a doubt, this Abe Flores creation is another winner for PDR.
