Description
CAO Classic: Pilon continues to be one of this company’s best sellers for almost a decade. To begin with, Cano Aret Ozgener started CAO in 1977 as a pipe and personal humidor company. In 1995 he created the CAO Gold cigar line which became an unexpected success throughout the country. Soon thereafter other blends like the Maduro and Cameroon achieved high ratings and accolades as well. As of 2006 is now part of Scandinavian Tobacco Group’s General Cigar brand listing. Since then CAO continues to grow in popularity and blend offerings that attract an ever growing segment of smokers to this day.
With attention to detail Pilon gets its name from the fermentation technique that goes back to 1800s Cuba. Skilled workers called piloneros used a slow, 18-month fermentation technique using smaller round pilons instead of today’s huge square ones. The result is an enjoyable smoke producing a complex medium to full bodied flavor with a great blend of sweetness and spice. In fact, when Blind Man’s Puff recently revisited this cigar, their rating went from 91 to 93!
To sum up, CAO Classic: Pilon comes in five popular sizes of 20 count boxes.

This edition’s claim to taste fame is the seldom used method of circular leaf fermentation where the leaves are spread out as opposed to age in bunches. The result is a real nice 90 rated smoke producing a complex medium to full bodied flavor with a great blend of sweetness and spice.
