Description
Casa Turrent 1880 Maduro is another highly rated blend from this hugely popular series.To begin with, Alberto and Alejandro Turrent, owners of Nueva Matacapan de Tabacos S.A de C.V are the first family of Mexico’s cigar industry. The father-son team make some of Mexico’s best cigars. They are also the largest grower of cigar tobacco in the country. The San Andres Maduro leaf growing outside of Veracruz is world renowned for its quality. A variety of their tobaccos are important components in many of America’s most popular premium cigar brands.
With attention to detail the 1880 Maduro contains Mexican (Criollo 98) & Nicaragua (Criollo 98) filler. Add to this a Mexican (Criollo 98) binder and you know it’s going to be special. Encase all this with a Mexican San Andrés grade A Maduro wrapper completing the formula. To say this a complex tasting cigar would be an understatement. It’s no surprise reviewers rave.
The critical folks at Halfwheel bestow a respectable score of 90 on this smoke with kind words. “This cigar balances sweetness with strength, and almost never gets unpleasant.” Cigar Coop feels the same way giving this Maduro a 90 as well. “This cigar’s milder profile meshed very nicely with the flavors produced. It also had just enough complexity from start to finish.”
No doubt, this is another winner for Casa Turrent, hands down! Sooner or later, you’ll want to try one of this company’s great smokes.
To sum up, Casa Turrent 1880 Maduro comes in four very popular sizes of 10 count boxes including a Lancero.

I feel Casa Turrent produces the world’s best Mexican cigars. It’s been understandable how many smokers have steered clear of this country’s offerings over the years. While many blenders have cherry picked Mexican leaves to add character in binders and fillers, using all Mexican tobacco has never produced a memorable smoke. ….. at least for me. Enter the Turrent family to dramatically change all this.
The full bodied Casa Turrent 1880 Maduro garnered a 90 rating with C/A and was aptly described as follows;
“A near-black cigar that draws evenly, layering the palate with notes of spicy licorice, wood and dark toast all leading to a nutty core of almond, cashew and peanut. The finish is long and spicy.”
This one is also jammed packed with tobacco and actually feels hard to the touch. But rest assured, the open draw allows all this great cigar offers to hit your palate full on. Buckle Up! Try a five pack of Lanceros and you’ll see what I mean.
