Description
Cohiba Connecticut is another great version of this amazing brand. The Dominican made Cohiba began its journey when Diaz y Cia developed the cigar in 1978. General Cigar’s dogged determination to retain the property rights to this icon has been a long and hard fight. From then the cigar went through blending changes over the decades that continue to this day.
To begin with, this medium bodied Cohiba is firm to the touch. That’s because its jam packed with vintage leaves encased in a near perfect wrapper. From start to finish, this cigar is smooth as silk. Along the way flavor notes of chewy nougat and malt flavor along with a creamy berry sweetness. With an easy and smooth draw, it has a light vanilla, earthy, coffee/cocoa taste. Cohibas thoughtful artisans began this show-stopping blend with an impressive Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper. It’s sophisticated and mellow flavor is anything but overwhelming. Next, the wrapper was thoughtfully merged with creamy Brazilian, Dominican, and Nicaraguan tobaccos, that add a necessary depth to the flavor profile. Lastly, the blend is finished off with a subtle, yet spicy Mexican binder giving this cigar a flavor profile that turns any smoking occasion into a celebration. Enough said!

OK. So here we are looking at Cohiba Cigars. We all know that the Cohiba name is probably the most recognizable one in the cigar industry throughout the world. If you’ve smoked one of the real Cuban Cohibas over the last few years, if you’re honest with yourself, you may want to quietly admit that it wasn’t worth the astoundingly expensive price it cost.
General Cigar’s dogged determination to retain the property rights to this icon has been long fought and hard won. I have to say that the Cohiba cigars readily available to all of us rival the Cubans on many levels. Yes, they are pricey. But considering the time, effort, amazing quality, craftsmanship and selection of tobaccos that go into each style, it is well worth the price of admission.
When Cohiba Connecticut was released in March of 2019, we all looked twice at the nearly flawless, golden Connecticut wrapper. Was this a Cohiba that could offer those folks who enjoyed smooth medium bodied cigars and join the club?
This is a Cohiba that’s as welcomed with morning coffee as it is with an after dinner whiskey. Smooth, cool burning, consistent and unmistakably Cohiba!
