Description
Cohiba Royale is another great super premium version of this amazing brand. The Dominican made Cohiba began its journey when Diaz y Cia developed the cigar in 1978. General Cigar’s dogged determination to retain the property rights to this icon has been a long and hard fight. From then the cigar went through blending changes over the decades that continue to this day.
To begin with, Cohiba Royale was introduced in 2020. The complex blend uses a Nicaraguan broadleaf wrapper from Jalapa, a Dominican piloto cubano binder, and fillers from the Jamastran region of Honduras and Nicaragua’s Jalapa and Estelí regions. With attention to detail, each leaf is five to six years of age. When Cigar Aficionado rated it 91, they described it best, “Inky black with a jagged cap, this oily robusto has an even draw and fairly even burn that forms a firm, white ash. It’s strong and earthy with heavy notes of coffee bean, smoked hickory and some cherry before a smoky finish that calls to mind peated Scotch.” No doubt this Cohiba is another winner!
To sum up, the Cohiba Royale is available in 3 popular sizes. If you’ve never tried one of these amazing cigars, what are you waiting for? From the small Pequenos to the Churchill, any size you pick will prove to be a thoroughly enjoyable super smooth smoking experience.

When General Cigar launched this new edition in November 2020, they told us, “Cohiba Royale was created with the cigar connoisseur in mind, bringing to life the microclimates and fertile soils of the Caribbean and Central America in a way that is unique to the brand,” said Sean Williams, Cohiba brand manager, in a press release. “All of the tobaccos that comprise Cohiba Royale are hand-selected and deeply aged, representing the best of the best tobacco growing regions in the world. The result is a cigar that is as bold as it is refined, befitting of the Cohiba name.”
This new totally full bodied robust blend uses a Nicaraguan broadleaf wrapper over a Dominican piloto cubano binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic, Honduras and Nicaragua.
All the flavor notes of darkly roasted coffee beans, smoked wood and black cherry are anything but subtle. The greatest part of this cigar’s taste is the undertone of a very peaty single malt whiskey as you move it along to the finish. As a side note, the box is incredible!
