Description
Montecristo By AJ Fernandez is a very special edition of this iconic brand. To begin with, when this iconic Cuban brand was launched in 1935, the world of Premium Cigars changed forever. Altadis acquired the Montecristo name for outside of Cuba in 1990 and began producing many sizes and styles available to all of us. Over the years, this brand’s portfolio continues to grow adding blends appealing to every smoker. Expensive? Yes. Worth the price? Absolutely. Quality, consistency, draw and taste complexity have remained near perfect for decades.
With attention to detail, this box pressed cigar uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra Oscuro wrapper, a San Andres Mexican binder and Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers. How’s that for complexity! To say the least, the Montecristo crafted by AJ Fernandez is an ultra-premium gem that puts AJ’s modern spin on this classic Cuban heritage brand. Just so you know, this cigar is probably the boldest cigar to carry the Montecristo name.
To illustrate this, Cigar Coop rates it a very respectable 91. With flavors of coffee, cedar, and heaps of natural tobacco taste, this is a cigar that delivers medium to full strength and full-bodied flavors from start to finish. Without doubt, if you’re a fan of rich, robust cigars this Montecristo is a must try.
To sum up, Montecristo By AJ Fernandez is available in 5 popular sizes of 10 count boxes

Over the recent years we’ve seen many of the world’s largest cigar producers reaching out to Master Blender A.J. Fernandez to commission a special cigar to enhance their particular brands lineup. It was only a matter of time before Altadis called out on behalf of Montecristo. When these beautifully made box pressed cigars arrived in 2017 I was fortunate to try one early on. The dark brown Ecuadorian wrapper was flawless. After lighting up my palate was enveloped with pronounced notes of espresso, crispy buttered toast, a bit of semi sweet chocolate and a medley of dried fruits. The draw is perfect and this medium to full bodied jewel burned perfectly from start to finish with plumes of aromatic smoke. I remember grabbing a box of 10 figurados for myself and enjoying one a month for close to a year. I could swear they got better as they aged which didn’t surprise me.
