Description
Montecristo Monte by AJ Fernandez is another fantastic collaboration between Master Blender A J Fernandez and this iconic brand. To begin with, Altadis acquired the Montecristo name for outside of Cuba in 1990 and began producing many sizes and styles available to all of us. Over the years, this brand’s portfolio continues to grow adding blends appealing to every smoker. Expensive? Yes. Worth the price? Absolutely. Quality, consistency, draw and taste complexity remain perfect to this day.
To point out, in 2017 Altadis reached out to Master A.J. Fernandez to commission a cigar with his signature that was worthy of the brand. And did he ever. This is the fourth cigar blended and rolled by Fernández for Altadis U.S.A.
With attention to detail, this creation contains vintage Dominican piloto cubano and criollo 98 fillers along with a prime Nicaraguan corojo 98 binder. And encasing all this is a 17-year-old Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. How’s that for complexity and craftsmanship! Without doubt the blend yields a balanced, smooth medium-full bodied flavor. To say the least, this dark, box pressed cigar is perfectly made with an exceptional draw.
When renowned industry reviewer Katman rated it at 95, his description of this flavor bomb is spot on. ” This may just be the maltiest blend I’ve smoked. In addition, flavors of chocolate, caramel, creaminess, red pepper, dried fruit, roasted nuts, cedar, and toasted buttered French bread make this cigar a winner.”
To sum up, Montecristo Monte by AJ Fernandez is available in 4 popular sizes of 20 count boxes. There’s also 5-packs to choose as well. Now you have no excuse not to try these amazing cigars.

When this Cuban brand was launched in 1935, the world of Premium Cigars changed forever. Their #2 Torpedo became the world’s biggest selling cigar. I’ve had a few of them over the years and can honestly say they were ok. But that’s just me.
Altadis acquired this iconic name decades ago and began producing many sizes and styles available to all of us. In 2017, Altadis reached out to Master Blender A.J. Fernandez to commision a cigar with his signature that was worthy of the brand. And did he ever. We weren’t surprised at the 90+ ratings this edition received since then. Encasing aged Dominican Criollo fillers with a selected Nicaraguan binder in a 17 year old Ecuadorian Habano wrapper yields a balanced, smooth medium-full bodied flavor. This dark cigar is perfectly made and draws well.
