Caldwell Yellow Cake Cigars use leftover tobaccos from three of Caldwell’s premium lines. Rather than go to waste, the smaller leaves that can’t be used to produce larger cigars in their super premiums are kept to produce the economical, medium bodied Yellow Cakes. These cigars contain the coveted Dominican Corojo wrapper from Long Live the King along with the rare Corojo Ligero Dominican long-fillers from The Eastern Standard and the King is Dead.
These little guys are the perfect way to sample what this great company does and a better way to enjoy their vintage tobaccos in an everyday smoke.
This third maduro variation of the Lunatic line is a slow burning bulldog of a stick! After the immediate onslaught of spice it settles down into a smooth, medium to full flavored stick that’s packed with complex and robust taste. I highly recommend a five pack of El Chiquitos. Buckle up! Origin – Nicaragua Filler – Nicaraguan Binder – Nicaraguan Wrapper Type – San Andres
The Aniversario is latest offering from the iconic Liga Privada brand and is another marvel of medium plus to full bodied taste that’s complex, robust and extremely flavorful. La Gloria Cubana Maduro remains one of world’s best Maduros even after over 30 years.
This classic Maduro stays true to its Natural original. It also consists of a hand proprietary blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. Binding this special tobacco is the same vintage Nicaraguan binder. The big difference here is the dark and oily Grade A Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. As with its Natural counterpart consistency also describes this very special Maduro. The result is craftsmanship delivering rich, smooth flavor and incredible natural tobacco taste. It’s safe to say that this Maduro is still the benchmark for the mark.
In 1993 Cigar Aficionado rated this gem a respectable 90. Their description is short and to the point. “A very dark, oily wrapper. This cigar has a rich, creamy taste that is brimming with sweet, spicy flavors.” In 1996 it scored the same. And pretty much the same year after year after year. It’s very safe to say this Maduro delivers a rich flavor savoring smokers palates for generations remaining a fan favorite to this day.
If you like Maduros and haven’t tried one, where have you been!

Padron Series ‐ Natural is one of this iconic company’s most popular entries.
This Padron Natural is a Nicaraguan puro cigar with a rich, oily, and naturally sweet wrapper. It’s a robust cigar with a thick, creamy smoke and notes of coffee and cocoa. The cigar is hand-rolled with aged Cuban seed tobaccos and aged for at least 2.5 years.
No matter what size or style, Padrons medium to full bodied smokes are always consistently perfect in every way. With a smooth draw, large volume of smoke and robust taste that increases in intensity along the way, it’s no wonder this company’s products are always difficult to find. Rightly expensive and worth every penny.

The Deadwood line is an interesting bunch of cigars. Jonathan Drew put this small batch brand together and launched them in a retail store in Deadwood, South Dakota, hence the name. They were such a huge success that in 2016 this group originally named “Crazy Bitches” went national. We know each has a Maduro wrapper and come from Nicaragua. The fillers and binders are undisclosed.
What you need to know is that the Sweet Jane and Fat Bottom Betty editions are very sweet mild to medium bodied cigars overall. The Crazy Alice is…well….just crazy! It packs more of a punch than the others and possesses more complexity across the board that fall into the “acquired taste” range. The newest Leather Rose is mild to medium bodied as well.
If you’re a fan of Acid cigars, these are must try’s.

Romeo y Julieta Reserve is yet another highly rated edition from this iconic company.
The Reserve is a successful offering appealing to a more diverse group of smokers. The addition Honduran leaves to selected Nicaraguan fillers and binder changes the body of the cigar for sure. Encasing it with a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper completes the formula. The result is a medium-full bodied taste with a flavor that’s not overpowering to your palate.
Cigar Aficionado rates this complex smoke a very respectable score of 90 points. Their description is spot on. “Initial puffs of leather and cinnamon segue into a nutty smoke of almonds and marzipan before the warm, toasty finish. Burn and draw are perfect throughout.” With this in mind, if other Romeos are too mild for you, the Reserve is what you’re looking for!
