In case you’re wondering, MUWAT is short for My Uzi Weighs a Ton! The MUWAT story began on the very first final consumer blending session at the Joya de Nicaragua factory in late 2010 during. This amazingly popular blend includes a San Andreas Negro Wrapper, Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade Binder and a hearty Brazilian Mata Fina Filler, coupled with Nicaraguan fillers provided by Joya. After months of attempts the final blend proved to be rich and earthy, with a bright, sweet undertone.

PDR El Criollito was first introduced in Europe before finally making it’s way to the US.
For starters, Criollo tobacco plays a pivotal role in this blend being featured in the wrapper and in the filler. Add this to the dark Mexican binder along with vintage Dominican filler and you know this has to be good. The result is medium body, medium strength, excellent draw and a bevy of flavors. Think Natural Tobacco, Fruit, Earth, Cedar and bits of Pepper for starters.
Cigar smokers are definitely united. In Europe they love this cigar. Here in the States, the sentiment is the same. Stogie Press especially enjoyed the cinnamon notes along with the nuances of dark chocolate and almond. They rate this PDR a respectable 91. Stogie Guys just say…..”If you’re looking for a bold smoke with heavy earth flavors, give the Bolivar Cofradia a try, especially considering its friendly price.” Leaf Enthusiast scores this Bolivar at 9/10. Their take is worth noting too. “It was very good from end to end…and the price is great. It fits the bill for a medium-to-full bodied cigar with a good amount of complexity for a bargain price tag.”

Casa Turrent 1942 Maduro celebrates the year of birth of Alejandro Turrent’s father.
The 1942 Maduro uses a Mexican San Andrés negro Colorado wrapper grown exclusively by the company for this cigar. Completing the blend is a San Andrés criollo binder leaf along with fillers of San Andres Criollo, San Andrés Negro and specially selected Nicaraguan tobacco.
Turrent calls it a medium to full strength cigar that is spicy without being aggressive, offering more complexity that the Serie 1901 line. Developing Palates says the 1942 is one of those good cigars where it manages to deliver layers of rich flavor from the start all the way to the nub.
